It is time to get the brush out and clean out all of those negatives thoughts and feelings that are holding your confidence back. You need to begin by facing some of that negative, confidence draining stuff. We are all born confident and it is only as we grow older that we adopt negative thought patterns and baggage that drains that confidence we were born with. Think about how babies start to walk, they don't have negative thought baggage and there is no doubt in their mind that they no matter how many times they fall over they will walk.
Working or living in a mess will wipe out your energy. To get you in the cleaning up mood take 15 minutes now and clean up around you, whether you are at work or at home, make sure you are clutter free before moving on. If everything is already spick and span then simply pat yourself on the back and have a rest for 10 minutes.
Life is so much more fulfilling when you are in control and designing it the way you want to live instead spending all of your energy constantly trouble shooting and problem solving.
You may be holding onto some negative thoughts about yourself that are holing you back from being fully confident. Maybe you compare yourself unfavourably against other people. Perhaps you think that work or life is a huge effort and a constant uphill struggle.
The kind of assumptions we hear at work, which you may share yourself, include;
"I am not a confident person because I left school with no qualifications"
"Until I can work part-time I will never be confident"
" My boss has it in for me, so its no surprise I have no confidence"
"He comes from money, so he is bound to be confident"
"I don't have the right kind of friends to help build up my confidence"
" I will feel confident when I have lost some weight"
As you can see most of these comments are loaded with judgement and unfavourable comparisons with other people rather than fact.Like all assumptions, if you act as if they are true then they become a self fulfilling prophecy. Try writing down some of the unhelpful assumptions you have about yourself. Now against each negative assumption try writing an opposing positive assumption. Now remind yourself about your new assumptions everyday and they will start to take precedent over your negative thoughts.
Like a sports person the more you practice this the better you will get at it. So have fun and make your positive assumptions as juicy and fun as possible.
